About Albert:
When we visited the Crossroads Animal Shelter, we had no idea we would get to meet Albert and bring him home. Albert was quiet and friendly to each one of us in the visiting room where we met him. As you can see, he has beautiful green eyes, and a great black and white coat that looks a bit like a tuxedo. We were very impressed with how friendly and what great thunderous purrs he had. It wasn’t until the person helping us tried to put him in the kitty carrier that we heard how loud his MEOW is!
When our son comes home from school, he does some reading on the couch. Albert has been known to find his way to the couch, even before our son gets home, waiting for the time they can spend together on the couch. Albert mostly sleeps while the reading is happening, but sometimes it almost looks like he’s taking in the story from the position he’s in.
You'll notice that Albert has white fur in the shape of a bowtie under his nose. On our movie and pizza night a few weeks after he came to our home, we found out that it might be a sign. Our son had a small, full glass of milk sitting on the side table next to the couch to have with his pizza. While we were watching the movie, Albert hopped up on the couch and seemed interested in the glass. Then I could see that he was licking milk out of the glass! We moved the milk right away, as usually older cats don’t digest milk very well. So we believe that Albert has a milk mustache because he really LOVES milk!
Albert is 9 years old and when we met him at the shelter, that was his third time there. We don’t know much about his history. The veterinary reports we received as part of his medical information all had a section on behavior. They were unanimous in saying that Albert is “friendly!” We took Albert to the Watertown Veterinary Clinic for his first check-up after joining our family. When the doctor put the stethoscope to his chest to listen to his heart, he was purring so loudly, that he could hardly hear his heartbeat!
Albert lives with us in our split-level home, so he gets some exercise on the stairs. He goes up the stairs as most of us, one paw at a time, unless he’s running up the stairs. Going down the stairs, however, he almost always goes down two paws at a time on each step, making almost a “ba-doom, ba-doom” sound as he goes down. It never fails to make me smile when I’m going down the stairs with him.
